Reverend Father Edgar Gacutan, the new bishop of Sendai in Japan

On December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis has appointed our confrere, Fr. Edgar GACUTAN,  as Bishop of the Diocese of Sendai in Japan.

Father Edgar was Born on September 23, 1964, in Cagayan Province, Northeast Luzon, Philippines. He professed his first vows in CICM on October 19, 1986. He was sent as a missionary in Japan in 1990 and was ordained a priest on April 23, 1994, in the Philippines. Fr. Edgar served in many parishes in the Archdiocese of Osaka, Sendai, and Tokyo. He served as a Provincial Superior of the CICM Province of Japan from 2004 to 2012.

Place: Cathedral of Motoderakoji, Sendai, Japan
