On June 29, 2021, the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, the CICM Novitiate was officially opened with a Eucharistic celebration presided by missionary community coordinator, Fr. Ignatius Sudaryanto, and assisted by Novice Director Fr. Johannes Silalahi and Socius Fr. Ernesto Amigleo in Sang Tunas chapel.

During the sermon, Fr Ignatius reads a letter from the Superior General and the Provincial explaining why the CICM Novitiate is held in Indonesia instead of the Philippines.

The reason is the Covid-19 pandemic and the Philippines closing its doors to foreign travelers, including Indonesia. He further explains that this move is just temporary. As soon as the Philippines gives the green light for foreign travelers to enter the Philippines, the novices will immediately transfer to the Novitiate in the Philippines.

The formation year 2021–2022 officially started on June 30, 2021.
